About Hapag-Lloyd

Hapag-Lloyd was formed in 1970 when two long-established German shipping companies merged: HAPAG, founded in Hamburg in 1847, and Norddeutscher Lloyd, founded in Bremen in 1857. The company is headquartered in Hamburg and is one of the largest container lines in the world.

Since February 2025 Hapag-Lloyd runs the Gemini Cooperation with Maersk, a hub and spoke network that aims for schedule reliability above 90 percent once fully phased in. That target makes the reliability figures below particularly worth a look.

The figures on this page come from Hapag-Lloyd containers tracked on ShipsGo, so you can check how its schedules held up in practice before you book.

How These Figures Are Calculated

Schedule reliability and route transit times come from Hapag-Lloyd containers that started being tracked on ShipsGo between 18 April 2026 and 18 October 2026 and have since been discharged. Transit time runs from loading at the origin port to discharge at the destination. Route figures average every routing Hapag-Lloyd uses on that port pair, so a single service in a Service Finder search can differ. A route or month is shown only when enough containers were tracked on it for a meaningful average, and volumes are shown as shares rather than counts.
